"I will tell you one thing, and that is our show next year is our last year of the show. ... Our contracts are expired [in 2012], and Tina [Fey] is gonna have a big career directing films and writing. She's going to be the next Elaine May. She'll be great."
The Wrap soon reported that an NBC insider quickly commented that there has been no talks of the show ending and no end date has been put in place. While it is true that Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey's contracts are up, Tina Fey may very well sign on to more seasons after her contract is up. It seems unlikely that Alec Baldwin will sign on for more seasons after 2012 though. Baldwin has stated numerous times that he would be leaving the show in 2012 and he has expressed interest in running for a political office. That being said, "30 Rock" will likely go on after Baldwin leaves.
Now it seems that Alec Baldwin wants to set the record straight. Baldwin wrote for his blog on the Huffington Post that he hopes the show lasts beyond 2012 with or (most likely) without him. Here is an example of what he wrote:
"I want to take the opportunity to state that although my days on network TV may be numbered, I hope 30 Rock goes on forever. Or at least as long as everyone involved desires."
So, it seems like Alec Baldwin may be leaving "30 Rock", but it seems likely that the show will continue without him as long as it's ratings are good. Thanks for reading! Your support means a lot to me!
