According to Entertainment Weekly, Penn Badgley has been chosen to play the late music icon Jeff Buckley in the film "Greetings from Tim Buckley". Badgley is best known for his role on "Gossip Girl" opposite "Green Lantern" co-star Blake Lively. Jeff Buckley is best known for his hit cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah". Jeff Buckley's father was Tim Buckley famous for the song "Once I Was". Tim Buckley died at the age of 28 of a drug overduse. Jeff Buckley only met his biological father once at the age of 8. Jeff Buckley's life was also tragically cut short when he drowned at the age of 30. The film will focus on Jeff Buckley's life leading up to his 1991 Brooklyn concert which was in honor of his father. Badgley beat out Twilight star Robert Pattinson for the role. I guess most filmmakers don't feel that Robert Pattinson can draw in a crowd without the word "Twilight" in the title after the disappointing box office returns for "Water for Elephants" and "Remember Me". I'm sure the paycheck the "Twilight" stars are demanding aren't helping them land roles outside of the franchise.
