Producer Christopher Nolan and director Zack Snyder are also hoping to get a big name to play Lara, Superman's birth mother, in the reboot. According to The Man of Steel Fan Page, the production sheet for "Man of Steel" has actress Connie Nielsen as being offered the role of Lara. Connie Nielsen is best known for co-starring in "Gladiator" with Russell Crowe. This casting could prove interesting if it's true and if she accepts. The site also mentions that Harry Lennix is up for an unknown supporting role. Fans have already begun wondering if Lennix will play John Henry Irons, Ron Troupe, the Martian Manhunter or a completely new character. Lennix is a solid actor best known for his work in "The Matrix Reloaded", "The Matrix Revolutions" and "Dollhouse". For the moment, treat the news of Connie Nielsen and Harry Lennix being offered a role as a rumor until more is known.
Should Russell Crowe sign on to the project, he will join a cast which includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon and Antije Traue. "Man of Steel" should hit theaters in December of 2012.
